Trends Magazine has picked our Mercer Island Provence kitchen as one of their Top 50 American Kitchens for 2013/2014. Their Top 50 Kitchens are selected based on “a blend of creative design, expert craftsmanship, and impeccable products”.
This project was a complete renovation of a Mercer Island home into a Provence-style residence. Working within the aesthetic lead of Jennifer Moriarity Design, we integrated the functional components (cabinetry, appliances, hood fan, built-in furniture) to create this spectacular kitchen space. In the kitchen, a large working island takes centre stage with a substantial limestone countertop and rich, dark base cabinetry. Against the wall is an expansive plaster hearth with two recessed storage niches that counterbalances the large island. A built-in fridge wall with ample display and storage space at the far end of the kitchen completes the design. Together, the materials, textures, finishes, and intricate detailing create a warm and inviting space that transitions seamlessly to adjacent interiors.
Design Highlights
- Custom-designed plaster hearth
- French-inspired built-in storage niches
- Furniture-style oak island with 2.5″ thick limestone countertop
- Traditional farmhouse sink
