Award-winning designer hosts popular seminars
Text by Darrell Bellaart / Nanaimo Daily News / July 23, 2013It’s not all that surprising mostly women turned out for Heidi Schumann’s 50 Shades of Gray seminar, but previous design seminars attracted a wide mix of contractors and home renovators.
The award-winning designer has held seminars almost each month since establishing her design studio at Qualicum Beach. For the record, 50 Shades was unrelated to the risqué novel. It was about fabric colours.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Schumann, laughing.
The renowned Vancouver designer started Design Details Inc. in Qualicum Beach early this year, completing the jump from Vancouver to the Island.
She specializes in kitchen and bathroom design and is highly praised for her professionalism, attention to detail, and creativity. In her 25-year career she has amassed numerous awards.
Three of her kitchen designs were named top picks on the television show This Old House. Her work repeatedly earns National Kitchen and Bathroom Association recognition. Her specialty is spaces that connect people to their homes and environment.
Affiliated with V6B Design Group in Vancouver, her new studio carries hand-selected, unique and imported materials not available elsewhere.
Her seminars are usually monthly affairs, and are open to anyone. Her next one will be on green design and sustainable living. To learn more, visit 101-663 Beach Rd. in Qualicum Beach, email info@designdetailsinc.com or call 250-594-2666.
